How & Where of Bartering
An
interesting point about bartering. How & where are you going to do your trading? 1. You
retreat has a designated “trading post” with in your wire. a. Advantages: Neat,
efficient everything safely stored & protected from the weather and, overseen by members of your group, safe. People come
to you, no travel. b. Disadvantages: You are known to have surplus good which are viewed and
talked about. The way to your trading post (and retreat) will be common knowledge. Non-members are inside your defensive perimeters.
2. You could bring your goods to your customers on an established “trade route”.
a. Advantages: They see only what stock you want them to see. Much better control over who
has access to your retreat. Your retreat and its location would be safer. b. Disadvantages:
You can only carry a small amount of barter goods, which are poorly protected from the weather. You must do the traveling
and are much more venerable to robbery and personal danger. 3. You trade at an established
flea market not at your retreat. a. Advantages: You are less venerable to robbery and personal
danger surrounded by fellow traders. Your goods maybe more safely stored & protected from the weather. Greater number
of barters will be attracted. Your retreat and its location would be safer. b. Disadvantages:
You still need to travel but just not as far still venerable to robbery and personal danger along the way. You may have more
bartering competition.
